PURPOSE:
The Communications Specialist is responsible for the overall message of the organization, including consistent delivery of verbal and printed material for Youth Frontiers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• BA degree, preferably in English or Communications
• Strong verbal and written communications skills, organizational skills, project management skills, ability to meet tight deadlines and work as part of a team. Strong at multi-tasking.
• Required computer knowledge: Word, Excel and PowerPoint, design software (preferably InDesign)
• Desired computer knowledge: Mac proficiency, Keynote, Pages, HTML, database experience (preferably File Maker Pro)

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Communications Project Management
• Coordinate and manage the print production process from start to finish for several communications pieces annually, including
• Writing and messaging with guidance of department heads/department strategy
• Compiling and coordinating necessary contributions from department heads
• Designing or working with the designer
• Coordinating proofing and revisions process and implementing needed changes after sign-offs and proofing changes
• Coordinating printing and mailing, whether in-house or with print house
• Projects include 4 newsletters (2 each of Donor Relations Youth Front; School Relations Youth Front), 1 Annual Report, 3 Donor Appeal Letters, 10-15 event invitations (Donor Relations and School Relations), event printed materials and signage (programs, posters, table tents), updating and reprinting retreat materials, email newsletters (10 each for Donor Relations and School Relations)
• Design or work with designers in the creation of all new printed materials
• Manage relationships with multiple print vendors
• Manage printed materials inventory for each retreat program, and general materials including envelopes, letterhead
• Update retreat and communications materials as necessary

Messaging
• Assists with creating, compiling, and implementing the general messaging for the organization
• Ensure consistency of messaging throughout organization: website, Facebook/Twitter, printed materials, verbal messaging
• Assist PR consultant in public and media relations efforts
• Meet weekly with webmaster to ensure website content is up-to-date and key events are publicized and removed appropriately
• Archive articles/media, maintaining organized and efficient systems to track presence in local and national media

Administrative
• Maintain organized educator referral and student quotation database for use in promotional materials and donor materials
• Manage printed materials budget
• Establish and implement best practices: Pricing/Cost Guidelines, maintain inventory of projects, cost estimates/actuals, quantity etc.
• Archive all printed materials

Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
